TGIF! Wish me luck!

Sam and I are going to St. George tonight for the weekend.  This is also the weekend that I have vowed to keep my act together and not get all crazy.  I've been thinking about the game plan to get through this without even an ounce of a gain!  Here's what I've come up with.
  • I've got to pack my own food.   I can't just arrive with nothing to eat because for me that is the surest way of letting loose.
  • Bring my exercises clothes!  There is no reason I can't squeeze in a run in the beautiful weather and I finally found a swim suit..... don't ask because the shopping trips are still haunting me with anger as well as other emotions.....  So I could take a few laps around the pool as well!
  • Mentally prepare myself for going out to eat.  I'm sure it will happen at least once but I've got to stay strong and plan ahead and not let myself get to hungry before we go.
  • Keep busy and have fun!  The more I'm doing the less likely I'll eat because I'm bored.  I think I may have trained myself to think I'm hungry when I am sitting around.  I'll even get the growling stomach.  This is just a rouse that I've come up with to give myself an excuse to grab a snack.  But it wont work on me this time!
I've been doing amazing all week and have seen a difference on the scale.  I was getting all caught up in the exercises that I was neglecting the eating right part.  I've eased up on how much I'm working out and really paid attention to the choice I was making about what I was putting into my body and I've seen great results and I feel even better then when I kill myself with exercises.  I'm excited to prove to myself that I can keep up my healthy lifestyle even when on vacation and a weekend.  So have a good weekend!  I know I will!

The Swimsuit Issue

I've been looking for a swimsuit for months now.  I haven't bought a new suit in upwards of 5 years. I eased myself into the idea with a little online browsing.  Now I need one in 2 days and have been trying them on and I just have one questions.......... WHO MAKES THESE!?!?!  Because I would really like to sit them down and give them a piece of my mind!

First of all why would a logical thinking person decide that we don't need any kind of support when we hit the beach or the pool and if we do its because we must obviously also love to wear eccentric floral patterns and only one cut of swimsuit, full absolute coverage one piece that might as well come with a pair of thermals.  I've lost 34.6 pounds and I'm a 22 years old with a generous rack!  I want to show some skin!  But I wouldn't be caught dead on the beach looking like something the vegetation throw up.

There are just so many things wrong with the way a swimsuit is made in this day and age, such as, pricing or sizes. But I think that I'm just going to keep the rest of my cynicism to myself.  But if any of you have direct contact with a swimsuit designer could you please pass on my sentiments?  I will continue the search this evening because a Skinny Mini in Training's work is never done!

Weekly Weigh In

Last week when I weighed in I lost 1.4 pounds!  But...... I'll never weigh in on a Wednesday again.  I lost control.  I kept up with my workouts.  I even finished a 10K!  But I didn't monitor my eating.  So the viscous cycle continues.  I have been thinking about this post for days.  I'm really tired of having to say that I eat like tomorrow the sun wasn't going to come up.  I'm doing 50% of what I should be doing.  Eating and exercise go together.  They don't work one without the other.

I'm really disappointed that I let myself blow the weekend again.  Its a pattern that I'm having a very difficult time breaking free from.

So here is the choices that I can make right now.  I can make this post negative and dwell on bad decisions that I've made... even though by the end of this post I know I'll make a promise to everyone that reads this that I will not let myself give up on a weekend again.  The second choice is to think about the amazing things that I have accomplished.  Just another easy decision to make!

  • I'm going to buy a swimsuit this week!
  • I finished a 10K!
  • Only 7 pounds until I am not overweight!
  • Losing weight is easy!
  • I love being able to wear a size 8 comfortably.
  • I wouldn't have considered going to yoga school 35 pounds ago.
  • I haven't felt this good in years!
  • I haven't looked this good in years!
  • I will not give up!
Nothing tastes as good as being thin!  I'll be remembering that and using what WW calls an Anchor this week.  An anchor can be a phrase or an object that you can refer to that reminds you of your ultimate goal.

I will not give up what I want for what I want right now!

Has The Suspense Been Killing You?

I know I left you all in a painful lurch with my last post and my shocking 5 pound gain!  Usually when there is a lull in my blog it is because I could be doing better and I'm working up the courage to admitting it.  But not this week.  This week the long pause was just for dramatic effect!

Weekly Weigh In: -4.8 lbs

Total Weight Lost: 32.8 lbs

Left to go: 15.8

Time on the Clock: 1 month 3 Weeks

I ran to WW last week!  I can't believe I can do that!  I ran 5 miles on Monday.   I've also been doing the Biggest Loser work out videos.  Alternating between Sculpting, Cardio, and Yoga twice a day.  I also have been eating all my healthy guidelines and choosing less low cal sweets for more fruits or veggies.   I also eat an ice cream everyday!  Could it be any better?  I'll be weighing in tonight and I'll be getting back to you tomorrow with the results.

I feel so different compared to the person that I was 9 months ago.  I got a taste of who I was when I went on vacation and it was not something I want to do again but sometimes it takes a little reminder to help you realize how much your goals really mean to you.  I can't wait to be able to say that I'm not over weight anymore and it so close that I can see the finish line.   I've just got to sprint the rest of the way!

The weigh-in to rule them all....

I can't say that I wasn't expecting a huge gain this week but it doesn't mean it was any less surprising to see just how much I had betrayed the scale this week.

Weigh-In: +5.2

WOW!!!!!  That is the pits right there!  I celebrated this monstrous weigh in by eating!  I'm happy to be able to say that the shock has worn off and I'm back on track.  Nothing can stop me now!  I've got 2 months till my trip and I've pledged with Biggest Loser!  I've got plenty of motivation to last me till my goal!  The Skinny Mini will prevail!!!

The Woes Of A Roadtrip Weight Gain

I'm back from my road trip and back to reality.  I have good news and bad news...... I'll start with the good.

I passed hundreds of In and Out Burgers which have yet to join the forces of evil here in Utah in the on going battle to expand my jean size!  In fact we didn't stop at one fast food restaurant and like I promised I bought nothing but gas and water from the many gas stations that we stop in on along the way.  Lastly I even managed a great run in AZ!  So there you have it!  The highlights of my weight loss journey on my trip away from home.

Now to the bad news........

Is to much of a good thing bad?  Yes, yes it is!  While I think I ate better then I ever have on a road trip, I accidentally left the will power for portion control at home.  I learned a very important lesson, its just the same to eat as much of a good thing as you can then if you had eaten something not so good.  There was one WHOLE day were I felt so uncomfortably full but as soon as the pain of my expanded stomach was beginning to ease.... I ate something else. Its all too possible that I'll be having a flash back of weigh ins past this week!  I think I am about to relive the Halloween debacle......

But with every hard lesson comes a new resolve!  I have 2 months until my trip.  I have run out of time for days off.  The exercise I feel comfortable with its the eating that needs a serious make over so I can frolic on the beach's of Spain care free!  I've taken some steps to help motivate myself.

  • I'll be attending the WW meetings.  (I always go in and weigh myself but I haven't been staying for the meetings..... This has to stop)
  • I've pledged to loose 7 pounds in the next month on the Biggest Losers Pound for Pound Challenge.  So for every pound I loose they donate a pound of food to families in need.  Its ending on 5/5/09 but if you want to make a pledge here is the website www.biggestloser.com
  • Tracking!  I haven't been doing it!  I count in my head but its just not the same.
  • No more "FREE" days.  Their not free!  I pay for everything I eat.
So basically I'm returning to the basics!  But its really exciting to think about the out come of two months of hard work!
