I quite.... Or did I?

The fat sick and nearly dead juice diet.... In my opinion it sucked. I completed two days, the juices were kinda gross and it took me hours to prepare the food on the plan. I didn't want to talk about it because I felt like a loser.

Sam bought me a few other juice books for my birthday. They are written by Jason Vale the uk juice master. We read the book 7 lbs in 7 days together in the car and I was pumped! It was a full 7 days of nothing but juice.

I started last Saturday and finished yesterday. I followed the program and lost a total of 8.5 lbs!

Jason made it impossible to fail. I had a wall chart a book an iPhone app daily audio messages and a no excuses attitude.

I'm not going to say it was easy. It was tough somedays but almost all the juices were really really good. One I didn't really like and the other was down right gross but he did warn me in the book and I only had it once with an orange slice.

It took me about 45 minutes to make all my shakes for the day and was easy to clean up.

This was doable. Read the book! It's worth it! I'll be juicing with his recipes for a long time to come. I know his method will get me to the weight I've wanted for a long time. I'm already 8.5 lbs closer in 7 days!

The picture of all the cut up fruit and veg is a days worth of food.

Day 2

Just peddling through. Last night was again just filled with cooking and not much else. Some one brought cupcakes and brownies to work which annoyed me. Lol I'm feeling a bit irritable today. The juices have not been very good and while the serving sizes are huge they don't stick with me very well so I get hungry fast. I also gained weight since yesterday which has just been making me wonder if this is going to be worth it or if my weight lose nutrition plan followed with the same dedication as this would be better.... Ugh I'll give it a good try. Not quitting today! I spent all night making the food and by jingo I'm eating it.

All this makes one juice!! And the huge plate of greens was dinner last night!

Day 1

I cooked FOREVER last night! I chopped boiled blended juiced packed and washed up.

Today I had an apple cherrie bake for breakfast which was delish and smelt like Christmas. Then a juice which was gross.... Took 2 hours to drink it... I don't love kale and it had ginger it too so it was a spicy herby concoction... I hope they get better. Big salad for lunch, soup for a snack and then another big salad and some steamed bean and pea assortment for dinner. It all sounds really good minus the juice. Haha. Good start to my "juice diet".

There was a lot of shopping to do last. night and it cost about the same as three meals out at a restaurant. Not a cheap diet really but check out all the stuff I got!!

Is tomorrow really phase two??

That was the fastest week ever!! I got it together last night and put together the shopping list, cleaning the fridge, and making lunch for today. I should have put workout on the list.... Ignore my spelling.

I've done a small amount of subbing on the food plan for the next 5 days but this list is lengthy!! I don't think I'm going to be hungry that's for sure. Not to many sweet things on the first few day though so I'm anticipating a headache tomorrow.

Today at work someone made Chinese food for everyone in the office. It smelt so good and people kept bringing there greasy plates dangerously close to me. If they only knew that my natural reaction was to grab their plates and snarl before running to a corner to enjoy they would have been more careful. Today.... I don't like anyone in the office.

Tonight's to do's:
Workout!
Do grocery shopping
Get a juice bottle
Make lunch

I've got that feeling....

The start day is two days away and I'm starting to get that desperate feeling like you do when you know that you are cutting some foods out of your diet... i.e. sugar and all you want is sugar because you are telling yourself you wont be able to have it.  This is a mind game I have with myself often and I get so tired of those cravings and "needs" being in charge.  I've taken a few extra liberties that I know I should have actually stayed away from and didn't bother to pack a lunch like I usually do.  When I start to feel like this I know I'm losing control, willpower, motivation and I've got to do something to rein it back in.

Tonight I'll be doing a few things to help me get ready and excited for the next week.
Workout!  That will help with said liberties staying off my hips.  Stupid liberties!
Clean out the fridge... again because its already a mess.
Put together the shopping list
Make my lunch for tomorrow

Those are easy enough to do.  Might take an hour (The shopping list might take longer...)  But I'll feel more prepared and therefore more successful to take on tomorrow.  But today is not over so I'm taking control now.

Today's song is one of my favourites at the moment.  I like to think of it when I walk past the table at work of sweets and treats.  I hate that table.  Just try it when you are trying to avoid something.  It will relate I promise!

A day in the life of my eats, week 1

This week I'm getting ready to start the serious 15 days by clearing out the fridge trying some juices and  polish off any food I have that I wont be eating during the juicy part of the month.

Lucky for me junk food doesn't last long at my house so they were gone about 10 minutes after the groceries were put away.  I've got some fish, chicken, yogurt, almond milk, eggs and things like that to eat up this week while still keeping things "so fresh and so clean clean".

Here's a sample of this weeks menu - since I'm a creature of habit this is very similar to normal minus the nightly ice-cream, rice cakes, and trips to the shops at lunch to chow down on cookies, cakes, chips.... Well I think you get the point.  Those trips being the real root of my problem it will be difficult to cut out  and have already had a slip at the Health Foods store where they had Chocolate and Yogurt covered banana chips that I couldn't resist and were on sale so I ended up with... 2.  Yeah back to the task at hand.

Breakfast - Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

Snack - Celery and Peanut Butter!!  I love this but the English think this is the weirdest thing ever!

Lunch - Soup and Salad

Snack - Banana and Almonds

Snack #2 - Pepper and Yogurt Dip

Dinner - Grilled Fish and Homemade Chips

Dessert - A try at Juicing (last night I didn't follow a recipe and just stuck a load of stuff in the juicer.... Won't be doing that again.)

Easy enough and if I'm hungry I eat something and I don't track stuff.  Just using common sense.... Which survives my cravings about 90% of the time.

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

On Netflix there is a documentary called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  It's about a guy that is overweight and decides that he is going to juice his way to health.  He travels across America talking to other people about the benefits and if I remember right he eats nothing for 60 days and just juices fruits and veg.

Well I'm not going to do that.  But I have been checking out his website where he has a nutritionist put together an array of plans and the best part is they are free!!!  The not so great part is that if you follow the plan to the letter it could cost a lot of money and it would take up a lot of my time.  So I've had to adjust a few things to make it work for me.  I don't think the plan will fail miserable if I eat a vegetable rich salad or a gourmet seaweed salad....

For this plan you need a few simple things.  The first and probably most important is a Juicer.  They can be pretty expensive so I had to take to fridayad.com (our equivalent to KSL) I must have been very lucky because I found one in the village next to us for £15!! It was even the same brand as the suggested one on the website so I went and picked that up like it was going out of style.  The women I bought it from said that she meant to juice but usually just reached for a beer instead and wished me lucky on my health.  Thank you lady!

The second important thing you need is fruits and vegetables.... lots and lots of them. Lucky for us we have been enjoying a fruit and veg delivery service.  They drop off a new boxes of fruit, veg, salad fixings, even juicing stuff every thursday so this will make it even easier.  This is also one of the reasons I'm not following the recipes to the letter because I don't choice what is in the box so I've just got to use what I get.

The just of this 31 day stint is this..... 7 days of wining yourself off of processed foods, meats besides fish, and most dairy.  The next 5 days you eat a combination of fruits and vegetables (and they have some really brilliant recipes that I would use on a regular basis as well as some odd ball ones that I can't be bothered with.) and home made fruit and vegetable juices.  Then the hard part 5 days of just juice..... I usually hate things like this but I'm really interested in trying it out and giving it an honest review so if during this period my post start to become dark and angry.... You'll know why.  Then you just repeat the 5 days of fruit and veg and juice and then back to your regular diet.  I'm going to come off this onto the plan that my nutritionist put together for me.

That's it!  This is slightly more appealing because of my upbringing :)  Being a Gillespie/VanSeter has some interesting perks like, a pallet for foods that taste slightly of dirt, I've been able to swollen a full sized capsule since the age of 5, I have an iron stomach that can handle spoon fulls of wheat germ oil and molasses, and if I can survive a garlic toty I can survive anything, because it may not be my favourite but hot damn I'll will try it!

Resurr resurr rect!

So it begins... again.  What can I say about the last year?  Well I didn't feel like it and I wasted my time.... Boring!!!  Right now today though I'm afraid that if I don't do something the weight will creep on little by little and I will be rocking in a corner because I'm so rounds.

In the last year I've had a trainer, a nutritionist, gone back to Weight Watchers and read books by Bob Harper, and done a myriad of exercises.  All with moderate success but no longevity.  I really miss my trainer and nutritionist but I do enjoy the extra greenbacks.  I've decided that Weight Watchers meetings are not for me anymore.  I think I've outgrown the content of the meetings and I lose interest.  The accountability is a good thing but again I enjoy the extra greenbacks. Bob Harper is great.  Love the book Skinny Rules.  Great information and very serious.  I'll apply some of his policy's but it's pretty strick..... I'll just stop there because I'm not doing myself any favors by saying I wont follow all his advice because it might work but it would be to hard. (add fake retch here).  I bought a pair of Kangoo Jumps which looked awesome even if Sam said he would not be seen with me wearing them, and he meant it, but sent them back because it turns out they were just okay and I did look a right tit.

In preparation of the grand return of my blog I've been sure to binge eat anything I could get my hands on because it would be the "last time".  Now my fats cells have swelled and I'm desperate for change... So mission accomplished.

I've been planning and planning what I would feel inclined to stick to and I think I've got a grade A plan that I'm ready to set in motion.  I need some support and comradery.  So if you have been feeling the same way or have been practising good healthy habits, anything really, please share so I know I'm not alone.
